Fend For Yourself Fridays: Barely There

1–2 minutes

This week? I was barely there.

Barely present, barely functional, barely making it through the day without diving into a pile of tissues, unfinished projects, and to-do lists I barely glanced at. Between a nasty sinus infection and the whirlwind of my day job, the goals I set for sewing? Yeah… they stayed right where I left them, untouched and unmet.

But that’s life sometimes. It doesn’t pause for our plans or give us a heads-up when burnout is around the corner. It just keeps going. And so do we, sometimes with gusto, sometimes on autopilot, and sometimes with the energy of a damp dish rag.

This week, I didn’t make anything beautiful. I didn’t check off a single major task. But I did keep going. I answered the emails. I ate something nutritious-ish. I dropped off orders. I rested when I could. And I reminded myself that fending for yourself isn’t about powering through; it’s about surviving smart.

So if your version of fending this Friday is dragging yourself through the day in sweatpants, feeding yourself microwave taquitos for dinner, and giving your sewing machine a compassionate glance from across the room…that counts.

You’re not failing. You’re healing. You’re human. And you’re still here, even if it’s just barely.

Here’s to surviving the rough ones with gentleness. And who knows? Maybe next week, I’ll get around to including pictures with my posts.
