Fast and Frugal: Lidl Receipt

With the way times and economics are changing, I figured I’d track my spending, mostly out of curiosity but it wouldn’t hurt to see how prices fluctuate over time. I sometimes catch myself wondering if groceries were really that much cheaper in my childhood, or if it just felt that way as a kid. But without any data to back that up, it’s really all just speculation. At the very least, I’ll have a time capsule to look back on when I inevitably find myself wondering again in the future. Who knows what the prices will look like six months or even a year from now?

Anyway, welcome to Fast and Frugal, a series where I explore quick grocery runs that last the week (or longer) and feed our small family of four. We’ll get started this week with our first entry:

I’d love to hear what your grocery lists and prices look like at your location!

  1. The drumsticks were purely for our dogs, so it’s technically not a part of our grocery budget ↩︎
  2. The chocolate covered donut is part of a tradition for me and my kid to enjoy from their bakery. It rarely makes it home. ↩︎

The donut idea is so precious – I’m the same way! After a long day of shopping, I try to get a little treat to end off the trip on a high note. Thank you so much for sharing! The time capsule idea is genius. I’m going to start tracking mine too – I swear prices were cheaper when I was younger!

Aww thank you so much! A little sweet treat just makes the whole trip feel worth it, ya know?

And yes, the time capsule idea has been such an eye-opener for me regarding my spending. I look back and think, “Wait…wasn’t this like half the price just a few years ago?!”

I’d love to hear what you start tracking too!
