In our household, each pet’s one-year anniversary with us is an occasion to be celebrated! It’s a time to reflect on the joy they’ve brought into our lives and to celebrate their unique personalities (and boy do they have strong personalities). One of our favorite traditions is gifting them a personalized ID tag from TagsForHope.
A Thoughtful Tradition
It all started when I accidentally stumbled upon TagsForHope when looking for a cute name tag for my cat. What caught my attention was the Pet ID Tags that mimicked drivers’ licenses. I couldn’t get over how cute they were! Such a silly and “professional” look to my plump feline. Since then, we’ve gotten one for each of our animals and have even gotten them to “sign” their name as if they were actually at the DMV. Each tag includes our pet’s name, photo, and our contact details, which is so much more information than we could normally fit on standard pet name tags.
Durability Meets Design
Our dogs and cats are an active gaggle of gals to say the least. From playing tug-of-war to rolling in the dirt and swimming in lakes, their adventures are never ending, just like their trips to the groomers’. Despite the absolute torture they put their collars through, we’ve actually been really impressed with how well these tags have held up. I suspect that they’re made from high-quality materials that resist scratches and are easy to clean. In fact, the only time we’ve had to replace any of our tags is when my husband and I misplaced it. Besides that, we’ve got tags going 5+ years strong with no visible scratches or defects.
Supporting a Greater Cause
The final factor that pushed us to purchase from TagsForHope, a family owned business, was their commitment to animal welfare. Their mission began with a simple goal: help adoptable animals find homes. A portion of their proceeds supports over 480 verified rescues and shelters, providing financial grants for emergency care and adoption preparation. Given that most of our animals were rescues who just showed up in our home one day, it felt good to support a business that gave back.
A Symbol of Love and Commitment
I think, ultimately, these tags became a representation for our love for our pets. I don’t believe it was intentional, but once we started our little tradition, it almost felt wrong not to do it. Every time we see the tag dangling from their collars, it serves as a reminder of all the days we spent together, all the milestones we’ve experienced, and all the memories we’ve made. It’s goofy to say that my dog has her own license, but who doesn’t love to have a reason to chuckle every day?
